The 1990’s saw huge changes for apple growing here in Britain, as the decade started with around 1,400 English apple growers and ended with around 500.

The industry is however fighting back, investing in new varieties, growing methods and cold storage technology, but it is still really important to support British farmers and growers, so look out for the union flag when you do your food shopping.
